3MC Meeting Notes 4-30-14

Yesterday, at breakfast, I had my eyes opened to a new world of opportunity. Thank you Damian/Marcus   I’m a little stunned by what is happening here these days. I completely missed the implications of what WE are doing here and what is going on. This morning we had over 16,000 views on our Gold Coin Google site! Our FB page is taking off and every where I go, folks talk to me about the hat I wear on TV! The impact and reach of this new technology is amazing. I’m going to take the advice of an old friend and “follow my nose”; I will see where this all leads us.

Yesterday we talked about Wikipedia and how we establish an “new” presence in Internet space! Marcus will be helping me set up some new postings that should meet “wiki-natzi” standards! Damian has explained how “vectorized graphics” work and how they apply to what we are doing with our media productions and I now am contemplating just how an instant of fun saying “Huan Yin Lai Mariposa” in front of a Chinese video camera can effect how millions of Chinese people “view” us as a community/nation! Boy I hope I don’t look stupid!!! (this is where Jon Turner-an old friend-is going to come to my rescue!)

So here we are creating a whole new “image” for our community! The full impact of all this is just beginning to settle in with me and the word “responsible” has taken on a whole new “life” in my life! Tuesday, is a our Valley Buzz show and we will “feature” Wendy Brown doing a “Cowboy” poem about “If These Walls Could Talk” (Gold Coin-Fremont Adobe) and Old Town Mariposa and the upcoming Butterfly Festival! So far, the Air Fair show, last week, has been our most successful “show” so far on YouTube 131 view so far and the FB link has 762 views (typically we get a hundred or so FB views) without “boost” advertising!

Our message is getting out there; we need to keep in mind what our message IS!

The image of OUR community, OUR Art & Artists, OUR History, OUR culture ARE what we are focusing on here. Yesterday Damian, who has been working on the John Bruce Art & Artist Video, talked about John saying that he burned more paintings than he has sold because “they did not meet his expectations” of excellence! With some of this stuff, we don’t get a chance to “burn” our “below standard” products, like my video moment that will be shown on Chinese national TV (hundreds of millions of viewers!). At the same time, as Damian said yesterday, we have to trust our instincts or we can’t move forward!

The subject of the I-Beacons came up and Carol Fong will be working with me to make this happen technically. I will be tapping Walt and Damian to create the messages that we broadcast. This seems to be closely linked to the E-Book “content” concept and here we go again!

This technology is growing faster than, it seems, I have the ability to learn. This “old dogs-new tricks” thing is a challenge but I’m still having fun! Thanks to all of you for helping me stagger through this emerging technology. Hope you have a good week and I will be talking to you. Bob
