It’s on! I will be buying the donuts and coffee; if you want breakfast,
it’s on you. We will be getting together, as usual, at the Gold Coin around
8:30. As usual, there will be NO AGENDA! Just conversation. There is a lot going
on, of course; the Flash Mob has been a “headline” event, Walt’s award and the
BOS recognition of the Multi-Media Department (wow), the “ton” of projects
working their way through the system, the end of the school term and “summer
fun”, new faces and ideas, the new Multi-Media Studio, Mariposa’s own community
TV......... It just goes on!
The meetings typically last about an hour; everyone has a lot going on. I,
of course, will try to write up something that summarizes what we’ve talked
about but the REAL objective here is to “connect” face to face. WE are making a
difference! We see/hear it in Old Town every day. I’m getting a lot of positive
feed-back about the Central Valley Buzz/Old Town Mariposa show and our Internet
“numbers” are growing! As a “promotion” for Downtown Mariposa, the Gold Coin’s
business is doing well as a result of this “investment”. I think that it has
raised the visibility of the downtown in general and has complimented efforts by
Sue Carney, the Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Bureau. The feedback I’m
getting, from out-of-towners, is that Mariposa is a much more interesting place
than they understood or expected! The reality is that OUR Multi-Media “tools”
are working. We’ve just begun to understand the real potential of the effective
use of this communications technology!
I’ve pulled together an update to my “Old Town” show schedule (see
attached). I thought I would share it with the group (looking for
ideas-suggestions). Note that the concept is driven by the “Inbound Marketing”
approaches to “Content” creation; I’m using the Coin in the background but the
show is about MARIPOSA in general and “Old Town” Mariposa specifically! The

linked to these sites as well. After two years, we’ve developed some pretty good
“posted” library stuff and we have amassed a pretty large “stock” of file
resources that we can apply to new projects as they develop! Of course there are
several “new” applications for this “content” including I-Books, I-Beacons, and
other Internet based communications systems.
My point in putting all this in this e-mail is that there is a lot
going on! We are making a huge impact and I THINK we should spend at least a
little time Saturday talking about the “image” that we are getting out there!
We, individually & collectively, are making an impression on the
world out there (and on OUR OWN Community) and I think we might spend a little
time talking about the “quality” of that impact!
Of course, the “meeting” or gathering or whatever you want to call it, will
take it’s own direction, as usual. Now you know that I will try and “steer” the
discussion (a little) to get to my concern! Have a good day and see you,
