Team:
Saturday morning we discovered the new carrot cake donut from the donut
shop down the street Donut A-Go Go! We talked about where we
are with various projects with the school. Summer is almost here. We discussed
the development of an off-campus studio in cooperation with Eric and Amber
McClard. We also talked about our need to improve our audio recording
equipment/technical approach! As a follow-up on the audio discussion, I had a
long discussion with Mike Hall, down the street at the Ciera Wine Cellars, who
is a musician and pretty knowledgeable with respect to sound recording/systems.
It will be a struggle but he will be joining us at our weekly Saturday morning
meetings. He has some ideas and experience as does his friend Terry Lavios who
used to do a TV program (in another life) and is very knowledgeable about
“production” studio lay-outs and operations! Our capabilities are
expanding!!!
As promised, I got my “agenda” on the table (with the donut bribe); with
our growing exposure (read success), our “media image” become more critical! I
find myself, via the Central Valley Talk TV show/on-demand Internet access,
something of a “signature” figure in this little promotional media effort; the
“look” of Old Town (Think “Cowboy Hat & Vest”). There is, of course, much
more. The approach, style and “content” of the show is very much a part of this
growing image and WE need to be sensitive to what WE are telling people about
Mariposa. We also talked about “linkages” that are developing. Our “show” guests
represent an audience for the show as exemplified in the number of “hits” the
show gets for various guests. The “make-up” of these groups are playing a
important role in the “demographic” for our “local/regional” audience and has an
impact on the larger audience of the “show”.
- For example in order of YouTube Video (“Old Town” Shows) views:
- Mariposa County HS 100 yr. anniversary (Celest Azevedo, HS. Principal) 2 mos. ago 145 views
- John Muir Festival, 4 days ago; (Ray Winter, UC Merced/John Muir group) 113 views
- Spring Break in Mariposa (Me) 1 mo. ago; 103 views.
For this reason, “show” program schedule becomes important with respect to
the guests that I invite and the topics that we cover. I’ve attached the Program
Schedule for your information/review/comment. We can look at the viewership of
the FB Pages and the Google sites and pull out other interesting “demographic”
information but the point is that my guests on the show play an important role
in shaping OUR audience. Right now, our Gold Coin Google site has almost 20k
views, our “Old Town” site has around 6k and our FB pages are doing well, viewer
wise, as well. With our Old Town FB page, we have done a little cross-linking
with the Chamber FB page and boosted both our respective “likes”. A lot to think
about here!!!
Aside from sampling Donut A-Go-Go offerings, we talked about our upcoming
schedules through the summer and project status. Big ones on the board include
our Art & Artist interview with John Bruce, the Flash Mob, the Coulterville
“Ad” for Terry Silk and Walt’s vacation to Europe this summer. We talked a
little about how he could “work” on his vacation! My thought was that he could
explore “hospitality” attitudes in various countries vs. OURS!
We will get together next week. Life is good and have a good week!
